Stepping Stones (SSC) is an independent organisation working within the Greater Manchester area. SSC works with young people with aged 11 – 25 with learning difficulties. Though increasingly we are working with individuals with complex difficulties, which will require changes in our practice.

Stepping Stones promotes, supports  and encourages the artistic endeavours of young people with special needs to ensure they have a voice. We use creative arts to aspire, personal development and respite

About

Steppingstones Creative (SSC) was set up in 2014, as a non-profit organisation, to use the creative and expressive arts , in the development of young people with learning difficulties in The Greater Manchester area, primarily, Salford and Trafford, UK.

In this period, using volunteers and freelance artists, it has delivered projects, as collaborations, with Julian Boal, Mike Garry, Bettina Carpi, Liz Taylor, Ashleigh Shorrocks, Sally Gilford, Marc Turner and agencies Warrington Culture, Edgehill University, Salford Dance University Department, Salford Holiday camp (Prestatyn), The Wentworth, The Horsfall Gallery (42nd Street), The Soapworks, Warrington Youth Zone, amongst others.

Besides collaborations SSC operates its own activities, from Cadishead Band Hall, on Saturday mornings and during holidays.

SSC has developed several international links with disabilities groups in U.S.A., Senegal and Malta. These have been organic development with several originating as a digital response during the ‘Pandemic’.
